Compass Consistently Builds State of the Art Network Operations Centers (NOC) for Clients with Resilient Proactive and Predictive Monitoring Systems

Compass Solutions has deep experience and background in building resilient monitoring infrastructure and implementing proactive and predictive monitoring systems. Compass Solutions has designed and deployed monitoring systems for servers, databases, network infrastructures, Microsoft back office solutions and enterprise systems for over 40 clients. Compass Solutions leverages monitoring and management systems from HP Openview, Net Cool and Hyperic to deliver world-class proactive and predictive monitoring platforms and professional services to over 20 clients. Compass Solutions provides extensive design and engineering for network management systems (NMS) in the following areas:


Hardware Platform: Deployed Sun Solaris server and ensured system reliability without impact to the operation.

Server Cluster: Designed Sun Cluster and maintained continuous reliability and stability of Sun Cluster software infrastructure; performed routine regular Solaris OS updates and patching; ensured continuous 3rd party application interoperability and transparency with the Cluster.

Databases: Deployed Oracle databases as a backend for the NMS, ensured continuous inter-operability with the Cluster; applied Oracle performance optimization and tuning parameters, and performed regular application fail-over where necessary.

Backup: Deployed Veritas NetBackup, ensuring effective backup of infrastructure data without loss; assisted with disaster recovery of infrastructure; maintained, monitored and operated the backup infrastructure and performed routine regular software updates to Net-backup.

Volume Management: Utilized Veritas Volume Manager to allocate storage to requiring applications; performed software updates and patches while maintaining existing data.

Manager of Managers: Deployed HP OpenView (HPOV) and HP software; provided first-level operational support on issues affecting HPOV; ensured continuous inter-operability with the cluster; provided customizations as they arise to address unique solutions supported by the software vendor (HP). Integrated new application configurations into HPOV for monitoring; collaborated with Network Engineers on continuous monitoring of network devices (Cisco), and performed regular and necessary SNMP MIB updates.

Software Integration: Integrated Cisco Transport Manage, NetCool, CiscoWorks, InfoVista, TelAlert to the NMS; provided first-level operational support on issues affecting the software.

Critical Events Management: Provided critical events management; developed processes and procedures for critical events management. Administered critical events tools and supervised escalations.
